Fraxinus americana is a species of Fraxinus native
to eastern North America found in mesophytic
hardwood forests from Nova Scotia west to Minnesota,
south to northern Florida, and southwest to eastern
Texas.

ホワイト・アッシュ（別名：アメリカトネリコ、アメリカタモ、
アメリカアッシュ）モクセイ科トネリコ属の落葉広葉樹。
材木として利用される。日本のヤチダモ、トネリコや
シマトネリコ、シオジなどと近種。産地北米東部。
適度に硬く 重量があり耐久性がある 加工しやすいので
家具・建築・楽器・合板材・運動器具・ 野球のバット
ボートのオール・ゴルフクラブや低音・高音域特性の
よさからギターなどの楽器に使われる。
